Online Survey
Online surveys can help you gather information and feedback to assist with project design, monitoring and evaluation, gather feedback on issues, campaigns, strategic planning - almost anything you can think of where you need to consult your network members, constituencies or the broader public.
The Women's Resource Centre used one online survey tool - 'Survey Monkey' - in their ground breaking research on the state of the rape crisis sector (March 2008).
"For the first time, we had a comprehensive picture on finances, staffing, service users and service provision across affiliated centres in England and Wales. Gathering the data, especially since it was so detailed, was an enormous task for both us and the centres we surveyed.
The WRC found Survey Monkey quick to set up a survey, user friendly and cheap. However, for more complicated research, such as the Rape Crisis survey, they found that had to use a combination of Survey Monkey and a spreadsheet application (MicroSoft Excel)for 'cleaning up' information to make it usable.
Tender (formerly known as ‘Until the Violence Stops’, used an online survey tool called 'Wufoo' to conduct a national online survey in collaboration with Hollyoaks (the popular TV soap drama) to get young people thinking about what constitutes a healthy relationship. The survey, developed by a 14 year old young woman working with Tender, was designed to raise awareness of domestic violence and spousal rape. Tender found Wufoo to "accessible & quite youth friendly."
